What is the american dream?
Phrased by James Truslow Adams in 1931, the American Dream is the equal opportunity for everyone to live a more prosperous and better life, regardless of class, race, or religion. The American Dream is based off the foundation of the Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson, who proclaimed that "all men were equal" and had the right to "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." The American Dream and abundant opportunity available lured many immigrants from other war-stricken nation to the United States, especially during World War I and II. A key ideal that the American Dream is built on is that the American Dream is achievable through hard work and hard work alone. Although the definition of the American Dream varies from person to person, the core values of the United States will always be a vital part of the American Dream.
