American dream of the 1970'sThe arrival of the 1970's brought the evolution of the American Dream as well because many of the goals of the 60's were accomplished. For example, the Civil Rights Movement succeeded in gaining more rights for African-Americans, and the United States withdrew from Vietnam. However, even though American involvement in Vietnam ended, the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States continued. Consequently, a part of the American Dream was still to attain peace in the world, but the rest of the dream evolved. The innovations of the 70's caused Americans to desire a higher quality of living. For example, computers became a practical household item, and the cellphone was invented in 1969. These innovations permitted Americans greater freedom and eased the strains of life. In all, the American Dream consisted of peace, health, and prosperity.

Darryl hudsonWork hard and you will succeed. No one handed you anything. You had to work for what you have. This comes to show that even though everything else in the American Dream may have evolved, the dream still holds the idea that hard work is the only required necessity to succeed in life and improve one's standard of living.
